Cedar Way, Hakkone, Japan, originally uploaded by nnaveen.

The tall cedar trees (this is also known as the Cedar Way) providing a warm reception to all the guests enroute lake Ashni....

I visited Hakone (about 120 Kms from Tokyo, Japan) along with a colleague, last Sunday .

A complete round trip of Hakone (a one day package) includes a bus ride from Hakone-Yamuto station to Moto-Hakone, a cruise that crosses the lake Ashni (on clear days, u can catch a glimpse of Fuji san on the way), ropeway ride, a cable car train and finally a normal trains that brings you back to your starting point.

Hakone is a hill station that is famous for its Hot Spas, boasts of the world second longest ropeway (~ 4kms) and known for the black eggs. (chicken eggs cooked in natural geysers). The time of visit, though was not perfect, the mountain was misty and the underlying scenery was obscured by the fogged ropeway windshield :(

A picturesque destination that helps you to chill out, especially after a long week of 12 hr working days..

PS: Hakone has some good traditional Japaneese restaurants that serve you hot fish and cold Sake..;) .. A deadly combination, especially the Plum flavoured Sake with 'Tempura'.

After a hard day's work... Jul. 2nd, 2006 @ 05:11 pm

Going Down Once Again ..., originally uploaded by nnaveen.

The Floating Restaurant Mar. 6th, 2006 @ 04:59 pm

The floating restaurant, originally uploaded by nnaveen.

Our (myself and a colleague) eyes lit up when we saw the sun shining brightly on Sunday evening...After 3-4 days of cold and snowy weather, it was a pleasant change...

But, as always, the sun shine was deceiving, the temperatures outside were freezing cold and I could not even take out my gloves for clicking snaps.

With all the warm clothings (golves, caps , sweaters, Jeans) we managed to walk around the place for around 20 minutes, by then we were almost like biological specimens kept in deep freeze.. We were literally shivering...To add insult to injury a young Danish chap (may be 3-4 years old) got out of his car and started playing with snow..(With out wearing a cap to cover his face/ear)...;)..

The place is by the banks of River LIMFJORDEN....The ship in the snap is a floating restaurant....Nope we did not go inside that...:) Who would go for a Europen meal when you have a yummy South Indian meal waiting for you... Visited an Indian colleague living here in allborgh and needless to say, had stomach full :)

It has been some time since I posted some snaps here... Planning to start em again.. Itz a weekend, and that means I have some time to go around with my A-95..

To tell the truth, it is not at all interesting to move around in this sub-zero temperatures with the white stuff falling down all day long :) ... It is typically the time for a hot coffee and a Shaji Kailas movie :))...

But the picturesque land (= Denmark :: some locals call it as Pan Cake land, for its extremely flat pan cake like geography) brought about the motivation to go around taking shots....

Tomorrow, I have plans to visit Skagen the northernmost tip of Denmark where the two seas the Baltic and the North meet ...

The important thing being at Linz is that itz just 100-150 miles from Vienna :)

This snap was taken @ The President's abode in Vienna.

The building with its beautiful surroundings, Lake, lush green gardens and a number of such horse rides, is a treat to watch.

Climate being ideal, I could see a lotta sunbathing around.. ;)

» SnowTrain

SnowTrain, originally uploaded by nnaveen.

Pic taken at Brocken 1142..The 1142 being the height of the peak...(A peak in the Harz mountain range)

I expected a normal day of trekking on ice(was looking forward for it), but it turned out to be enuf snow for years to me..;-)

The train has a service once every 2 hours(even in these snowy conditions)...The arrival of it being marked with a loud pumping of steam & a clamour of the waiting crowd, on seeing the smoke spitting monster..
